The latest on Nicky!

Nicky's home, but a recent dr's visit discovered that his ankle is rebroken...apparently, the bacteria in his bone is eating the healing cartilage....I'm sleeping all weekend...Big Nick's in a  lot of pain with nerves in his spine...cortizone shots begin the 23rd.

New Nicky Update

Well, I was going to tell you the great news that Nicky's better....the bacteria are gone (except for the nec. fas.), he fever and heart rate down, and pancreas pain better.  Last night the hospital even discharged him..........but, today his dr. called and said that another test came in after he left....his blood has grams negative rods (I never heard of it either), I guess he said that it means he now has e-coli.....he's only had adventist jello and tea for 2 weeks....I don't get it!   So, I had my "baby" home for a day, and he has to go back to the hospital tomorrow....this time he'll be in the County Hospital....I know God's in charge and has a plan....but, this is awfully hard!

Update on Nicky

Hi Everyone...Here is the latest on Nicky!

They've added an additional antibiotic to try to control his bacterial infections, but it hasn't been effective....they continue to monitor his high temp (as it spikes so quickly), heart rate, and cellulitis in so many places (left arm has thrombosis, as well)....an ECHO (heart test) is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday).  He just saw a new attending dr. (he said they keep getting older) who looked like the drs. of the past who made house-calls: grey hair and beard.  He said, "Well, I hear you've been pretty sick" "Yeah" "Well, you better stop that!"  Nicky likes him.........he asked about the severity of the pain in his leg (we've all pretty much forgotten about that!), and he said that he suspects another bacteria--one relatively unknown, that feeds on the one that caused the necrotising fasciitis--but, it is responsive to one type on antibiotic!  They'll do ex-rays and other tests of his leg, I guess tomorrow.  He remains in the cardiac ward--he's glad....he hates ICU.

Pray for Nicky

Please pray for Nicky.  He is in Loma Linda ICU and very sick with a bacterial and staph infection that the doctors cannot seem to stop.  His temp continues to be VERY high.  They need to do surgury, but can't because everytime they stick him with a needle it gets infected from the bad stuff in his blood (I am not a doctor or nurse and don't know the technical stuff, but it sounds BAD)...He has battled this for quite a few months now...his spirits are good, but he needs to be healed.  His Mom and Dad are clients of ours... and they are also wearing themselves out with taking care of him and working, and all the other stuff that goes along with keeping on keeping on...!  Anyway, he is too young to be so sick.  Anyway...the Lord can do what seems impossible for man or science!
